Bookmark and Share

An eye popping out of its socket (proptosis) can be caused by trauma, excessive physical restraint, and tumors behind the eye. This is a medical emergency and should be treated promptly by a veterinarian to preserve sight.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Soak a gauze pad or lint free cloth with lukewarm sterile saline contact lens solution or tap water and place it on the eye and get her to the vet.
2   If your cat doesn't allow you to apply the pad then fill a spray bottle with saline solution or water and gently spray the eye every min while traveling to the vet
Warnings
DO NOT remove the pad to moisten it while travelling to the vet, keep it on and moisten in with a spray or drop bottle
DO NOT attempt to pop the eye back in. It must be done so by a veterinarian using anesthesia
Tips
Keep a moist pad or cloth on top of the eye even whilst transporting to the vet
