Shock occurs when the tissues of the body don't get enough oxygen. It is a life threatening condition and can be the result of many different types of illness or injury. It is important that first aid is given and taken to a vet immediately because shock is so serious and acts very fast. Depending on your pet’s underlying condition, if she is treated quickly enough she may be able to recover.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Control any external bleeding. Apply firm direct pressure to any bleeding wounds. Add additional pads as necessary to control bleeding. (Do not remove pad underneath.)
2   Elevate your pet’s hind end (unless injured) to increase blood flow to the heart.
3   Warm your pet if cold by wrapping in blankets & towels. Apply hot water bottles (wrapped in towels) to your pet’s body.
4   Cool your pet if hot by applying cold compresses or cold packs (wrapped in a towel) to your pet’s chest and abdomen.
5   Seek veterinary care immediately.
Warnings
DO NOT remove initial cloth as it will remove the clot trying to form
Take your cat to the vet immediately
Hypothermia can set in if your pet is not warmed up
Tips
If you can not find a board you can also use a blanket as a stretcher
