Bookmark and Share

Since pets are always sniffing people and objects it is common that they can get an object stuck in their noses. This can be something like a blade of grass or piece of wood. If the object is deep in the nasal passages you will have to take your dog to the veterinarian for sedation and removal of the foreign material.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Make sure to muzzle your dog because they can accidentally bite you while you are trying to help them
2   Have someone else hold his head and talk to him in a soothing voice to keep him calm
3   Use your fingers or a blunt-tipped tweezer to remove the object making sure his head his held still with the hand
4   Clean the nostril after removing the object with a cotton ball soaked with contact lens solution
5   Apply some Neosporin if you see any abraisions or soreness and make sure to hold him for 1 min while the Neosporin soaks in as your dog will probably lick it off
Warnings
If your dog can not stay still while holding him consult a vet to remove the object
