Maggots

Maggots only inhabit necrotic and dead tissue. If you see maggots coming out of any sores or wounds on your dog’s body, seek immediate veterinary care. Your dog has a serious underlying medical condition requiring intensive care and wound management.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Restrain and muzzle your dog to prevent them from biting you while you try to help them
2   Use blunt scissors or electric clippers to clip the fur around the wound
3   Use a gauze pad or blunt tipped scissors to pick out the maggots from the wound
4   If the wound is deep and you can't reach the maggots fill a bathtub with lukewarm water and place your dog in it
5   Flush the wound constantly for 15 min either by submerging the area in the tub or using a sprayer attachment and then pick the maggots as they try to escape drowning
Warnings
This is a serious medical condition. Your dog will likely require surgical debridement, intensive care, and treatment of underlying medical problems
Tips
Wear rubber gloves while removing the maggots to avoid any contact with them
Water flushing will get rid of any eggs that haven't hatched
