Aspirin Poisoning

We use Aspirin as a pain reliever. Accidental overdosing is very common as people think taking more will ease pain faster. Overdosing on Aspirin is extremely dangerous.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Call poison control IMMEDIATELY (800) 222-1222.
2   While calling poison control get the Patient's age, weight, and condition a. Name of the product (ingredients and strengths) b. Time it was swallowed c. Amount swallowed
3   Call emergency services or take the person to the Emergency Room.
Warnings
DO NOT try to induce vomiting because in aspirin poisoning there is a chance that the victim might develop altered mental status or convulsions.
If treatment is delayed or the overdose is large enough, symptoms will continue to get worse leading to seizures, high fevers, or death.
Tips
If treatment is received immediately for the overdose you can lower the amount of aspirin absorbed into the blood
