Calf Cramp

Cramp is a term often used to refer to a painful, involuntary contraction of a single muscle or a muscle group. Cramps are caused by overexertion of the muscles due to prolonged sitting, inappropriate leg positions while sitting or dehydration. Make sure to drink plenty of water and stretch every day to prevent cramping.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Straighten the person’s knee and pull the foot up towards the shin as far as possible to stretch the calf muscle.
2   Gently massage calf muscles
3   Apply heat using a heating pad or a hot water bottle wrapped in cloth
4   Provide plenty of water as cramps may occur due to heavy sweating
5   If cramps do not resolve in a few days, seek medical advice.
Warnings
DO NOT apply direct heat to the skin make sure it is wrapped in a cloth
