Fainting is usually due to a temporary lack of oxygen to the brain. This has many causes, ranging from benign to very serious conditions. It is a good idea to always follow-up and recent episodes of fainting with your doctor to rule our sinister causes.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Have the person sit on the ground or lie down and have their legs elevated 8 to 12 inches.
2   Loosen any tight clothing on the body especially around the neck to increase circulation
3   If you are inside open a window or door to allow ventilation and air into the room. If you are outside take the person into a cool shady area.
4   If the person vomits then turn the person on their side or turn their head sideways to prevent choking on vomit
5   Gently bathe the face with cool water or get a cold compress and place it onto the forehead. Wrap the compress in a cloth before putting onto the skin
6   After the person is fully conscious give them some water or fluids with sugar. Have them take small sips.
7   When the person recovers help them get back into a standing position and support them in case they get another fainting spell.
8   Make sure they are fully conscious and have rested 10-15 minutes before attempting to walk around
9   If the person does not regain consciousness call 911
