Fire Ant Bite

Fire ants are aggressive ants that sting on contact. They usually will attack in swarms so be aware and stay clear of their ant nests. Their name comes from their sting which burns like fire and is due to their stinging venom which is highly acidic.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Remove yourself from the area where you were stung as fire ants are highly aggressive and are found in large colonies.
2   Locate the location of the sting and wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
3   Within 15 minutes after washing apply a paste of baking soda and water
4   To help with the itching, pain and swelling apply an ice pack or ice wrapped in a cloth to the affected area.
5   Taking an antihistamine such as Benadryl will help ease symptoms.
Warnings
DO NOT itch the sting sites or you will intensify the complications.
Leave blisters intact as they form, DO NOT pop them as it can lead to infection.
Tips
Use lots of ice and cool water to relieve itching.
Keep the sting site above heart level as it helps with swelling and pain
Contact a doctor immediately if you are diabetic, or prone to severe allergic reactions.
Cleaning the sting sites helps avoid infections
