Mono is a common viral illness caused by the Epstein-Barr or Cytomegalo virus, and is especially prevalent among high school and college students. It leaves you feeling tired and weak for weeks or months. As Mono goes away on its own, getting lots of rest and good self-care can help you feel better.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for fever and pain control
2   Use throat lozenges like Halls or gargle with warm saltwater to soothe a sore throat
3   Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration
4   Get plenty of rest in bed and limit activities
5   If symptoms do not resolve within 7 days or increase in severity, see your doctor.
Warnings
Avoid any strenuous exercises and contact sports until the doctor feels its ok
Mono is contagious so avoid any body fluid contact
Make sure the person is not allergic to acetaminophen or ibuprofen
