Motion Travel Sickness
Bookmark and Share

Motion sickness is a common problem in people traveling by car, train, airplanes and especially boats. This is due to visually perceived (what you see) movement and the vestibular system's (what your body) sense of movement. If motion is not resolved, the person will frequently vomit, and unlike most illnesses, vomiting does not relieve the nausea in motion sickness. There are a variety of over the counter aids with anecdotal evidence.

Symptoms

Steps
1   If you are on a plane try to sit at a seat over the front edge of the wing. It will also help to direct the air vent towards your face.
2   If you are on a ship try to request a room near the center of the ship, by the waterline.
3   If you are on a train try to sit near a window and make sure you sit facing forward.
4   If you are in a car and are not driving sit in the front passengers seat.
5   Make sure to focus on the horizon, or a stable object in the distance
6   Keep your head still and in a comfortable position, against a cushion or seat back.
7   Take an over-the-counter antihistamine like Dramamine at least 30 - 60 min before you travel
