Inhaled poisoning occurs when a harmful substance is drawn in through breathing. Common inhaled poisons include carbon monoxide from smoke or engine exhaust, natural gas, solvent fumes, and chemical vapors.

1   Act quickly. The effect may worsen with time. Safely move person to fresh air immediately.
2   Activate EMS without delay if person is displaying any serious signs or symptoms.
3   Call the U.S. National Poison Hotline at (800) 222-1222 for additional directions on care.
