Sunburn

Sunburn results from too much sun or sun-equivalent exposure. It is a burn from ultraviolet (UV) radiation to your skin.

Symptoms

Steps
1   Put cold water on the sunburned area.
2   If sunburn is severe, submerge the sunburned area under cool water until pain is relieved.
3   Lie down in a cool area to relieve any headaches and drink water
4   Taking ibuprofen may help reduce pain.
5   Apply a soothing lotion that contains aloe vera to sunburned areas
6   If possible, put a dry, sterile bandage on a severely sunburned area.
7   Seek medical attention for severe sunburn.
Warnings
DO NOT rub the skin
DO NOT put ointments, sprays, antiseptic medications, or home remedies on severe sunburns.
Make sure the person is not allergic to ibuprofen
Tips
It is helpful to place cold, wet cloths on the burned area.
Take frequent cool showers and baths
