Vertigo is a specific type of dizziness, giving the person a sensation of spinning, swaying or whirling while the body is actually stationary with respects to the environment. This occurs as a major symptom of a disturbance in balance (equilibrium). Vertigo may be a cause of an ear infection, allergy or injury to the inner ear, or is a symptom of a neurological condition.
